I am thinking about a carb for my build http://www.zukiworld.com/forum/build-diaries-how-to-diy/saving-an-87-samurai-from-the-wrecker-budget-daily-driver-plus-trails-build/ (http://www.zukiworld.com/forum/build-diaries-how-to-diy/saving-an-87-samurai-from-the-wrecker-budget-daily-driver-plus-trails-build/) , i am deciding between a weber and a corolla carb.
Will the corolla carb give a performance increase?
What angles can the weber achieve before flooding or starving?
-
Why not to go with CV carb setup? Neither the Corolla nor the Weber will give you such results in offroad and in case of 44mm onroad also. MySide or Petroworks It's Alive setups are very good and easy to install.
For any serious offroad situations Weber should be modified to work in steep inclines(Serg was doing offroad\performance mods for Webers, don't now if he does it now). As for Corolla can't say anything good or bad, simply don't know much about it.

The corolla carb would be cheap and i am poor, i have read since i posted that the corolla carb gives a modest boost of midrange.

You can also try a Toyota Starlet carb.Ive ran the corolla, webber, and the starlet carbs. The only one i had too modifie was the webber for steep angles. The other two need no mods. The starlet carb really works better than the corolla carb.Just under the performance of the webber.I never had any stalling problems with the toyota carbs.

The Starlet carb was only in the US for 2 years. They're hard to find, and not much info on working on them. Are they that much better than the Corolla carb?
-
Depending on the engine size and model year the corolla and starlet used the same carb, atleast here in europe.
I have a 78 starlet carb on my 1,6, and had it on a 1,3 before that.
nice simple bolt on carb with manual choke.
If you can find a cheap corolla carb go for it.
and be shure to mount it with the float chamber facing the rear!

How well does the starlet carb work on the 1.6L? I am planning on doing the same thing with mine. Can you give me a better idea of which toyota carbs will work? Did yours come off a 1.2 or a 1.6L starlet?
-
Starlet and Corolla carbs are diferent carbs. Starlet carb is bigger than the Corolla the Corolla engines ran from a 1.2-1.6 Starlets were only 1.3or 1.4 never a 1.6. I would use the Starlet Carb on your vechile. Ive ran both carbs and the Starlet worked the best out of them. But all out power would be the webber. Mine with the 1.3 and header 6.5 tcase out ran one of my club members with the 8v 1.6 injected motor on the fwy. If you go with the webber you have too modifie the float bowl to make it work off road. You have too plug off the vent an extend it up with a tube so it wont flood going up hill. been threr done that. Good Luck!!

I ended up going for the FI. The carb I got was not a direct bolt on and I didnt want to screw around searching for adapters and trying to get it right only to give up and go FI at the end.
Thanks for the info though.
