Can anyone give me your ideas on diagnosing a starting issue i have experienced for the last 3 months?
At present, when turning the ignition, the starter is dead. I hear a clicking in the ECM, when turning the key.The clutch safety switch is good. The starter wires are fine and connected. The Geo will run when pushed to start. Initially, the started would hesitate when the ignition key was turned, and then would start. Now its just dead.
Thanks

Try jumping the starter solenoid start lead direct to battery (the battery lead should already be direct to battery). This will tell you whether problem is at starter.
If that works -check voltage at starter solenoid start lead when ignition switch is turned to start. Should be almost same as battery voltage.
If it does not work, then jump between the starter solenoid battery lead and starter solenoid lead. If that works then you need a starter solenoid.
If that did not work, then jump between the battery and starter. If it does not work have starter tested/replaced.
Some of these trucks have a clicky starter issue. Presumably the issue is in the starter switch (the major item between the battery and starter solenoid start lead). There is a clicky starter fix that does not fix anything, but creates a reliable way to start your vehicle if the first test works.

Could be ignition switch not getting enough power to the starter
Replace or install a push start - loop wire from battery to button to starter
*Just did it on mine for that reason
