I'm still learning the various suzuki models old to new..... currently I am looking for a rear axle. I have read that the XL-7 comes with 28 spline axle shafts. So hopefully someone knows for sure, my main question is:
1. ) Do all "XL-7" have 28 spline rear shafts?
If this is true, then I'm assuming any XL7 2001-2006 would be a likely candidate to have this axle? I hope/plan to pick one up at a salvage yard.....Any comments or insights are welcome.

Yes they are all 28 spline

Thanks for the quick reply. I was finally able to track one down at a junkyard this past weekend....I got to tear it down and get some info I couldn't find on the internet.
One side note for fellow suzuki scavengers.....if your looking at the axle it looks near identical to the Gen2 Tracker/ GV, but it is significantly bigger and has a 6-polt pinion flange.

Maybe in the near future I'll throw together a document with some more info on it, since I have yet to find a good source.

Find a locker to fit it and you'll be a hero.

Yeah I bet....lol.
I have been documenting different items, and this XL-7 is definitely different....The carrier itself is an odd shape.
From comparison of dimensions I would gamble a Gen2 complete axle housing would bolt into a XL7, or vise versa. So if lockers are available for Gen2 that might be an easier route. Of coarse then you would need a driveshaft adapter and possibly stronger "Custom" axles to achieve the same strength of the 28 spline XL7.......so its probably not worth it..... :-\
Also another fyi, ford 28 spline is NOT the same as "suzuki" 28 spline.....Suzuki is significantly smaller.
Sorry no hero here. ;)

Yeah, I wanted the beefier XL-7 gear so went the modified driveshaft and panhard relocater route. You also have to bring the parking brake cables over. For me it was worth the tradeoff of being stuck with the open diff, but just barely.
