I have and 87 Samurai JX with a weber carb and the previous owner did not replace vacuum lines or vacuum caps when he rebuilt the engine.
One of them i know has to do with fuel because when i shift (especially if im at high rpms) you can smell a real strong gas smell in the cab. A friend of mine explained that when the engine goes from high rpms and you push the clutch in or let off the gas the extra gas not used from the cylinders gets transfered back to the gas tank, this makes sense because there is a line that goes from the engine bay, back to the gas tank that is not connected, in the engine bay. And also with the engine running there are some spouts coming off the distributer, carb, and intake manifold that suck in when you put your finger over them.
Is there some kind of diagram or manuel that someone has or do i have to buy a manuel (i plan on buying the manuel soon anyways????

Some of these mite not be vacuums lines, they mite be other things or they mite need to be capped off, any help would be appreciated.

Also, i have the "32/36 Weber DFEV/AV Series carbs" does anyone know the best air cleaner that will fit this carb? The carb opening where the air filter mounts to the carb is a weird shape, like an oval.
I saw on Weber website they had the:
"Redline Complete Air Cleaner Assembly Chrome Rectangle 2 5/8" High"
and i was comparing it to the one lat looks like a dome, the length and width are larger but the height is lower, i wanted to know if anyone knows about these 2 different air cleaners. I am looking to possibly put a prefilter over it as well so keep that in mind.

Just scroll down to the second Carburetor and you will see the two (one is shaped like a dome and is chrome, and the other is more boxed shaped and has a black top)

The Vacuum line information at my website - http:www.acksfaq.com (http://http:www.acksfaq.com) - applies ONLY to the OEM Hitachi carburetor.
There are two hoses that are used on the Weber:
One that goes from the port on the side of the Weber near the bottom to the distributor vacuum advance inlet
and
One that branches off the pcv line that runs from the of the valve cover to the bottom of the air filter case.
Which brings us to the air filter case...
There are two air filter cases that are typically used on the Samurai with the 23/36 carburetor. The taller of the two - mentioned in your post above - may be too tall for the hood to close properly depending on which engine you are using. It probably will work with the 1.3 as the engine is a bit shorter than a 1.6. If your truck has a 1.6, you'll need the shorter of the two cases. The shorter of the two should work on either engine.
All of the other vacuum inlets on the intake manifold should be plugged.
The rust-colored plastic inlet with the two vacuum hose port can be left in place as it is actually a heat-acutated valve that only affects vacuum flow between those two ports. Most people plug it with something anyway...

Ok the first line you mentioned i hooked up and everything was fine, the second line (stratches head) i could not find on either ends, i do not see any kind of vacuum stem or port connecting to the air cleaner and also i could not find anything on the valve cover case, the olny line coming off the valve cover case was a line that was already hooked up that went from the top left side of valve cover down to some part of the lower engine (it was a good size hose, bigger than the vacuum line hoses).
I really hope i can figure this out, i prefer to do this myself that way i am familiar my truck, i have a friend that owns a mechanic shop but he is almost ALWAYS busy and i don't really have the funds rite now.
If you like i can post more pictures, the last pics were at night you mite get a better look during the day time......

Normally, there is a larger hose that runs from the valve cover to the metal PCV mounted on top of the intake manifold. A tee fitting is inserted in this line and a hose is attached to the third port on the tee which runs to the bottom of the air filter case - at least that is how mine is plumbed...

I'm taking it in tomorrow to my friends shop, and i will have him help me in person, that way i can see what he is doing and learn about the different components and what they do.
I will let you know how it turns out, i will probably bring the info that you gave me so we can refer to it if we need to.

UPDATE:
With the help from my mechanic friend we got all neccesary lines hooked up, the line i described coming off the valve cover was actually not going anywhere so we hooked that up the the PCV hookup and he installed a hose from the distributer to the bottom of the Carburator.
He said that the reason i got cofused is because the PO plugged all emmision lines so thats why i thought things were missing.

Just wanted to say that i appriciate ya'll checking back in to see updates and help out when possibly, this is definetly a great group of people that i happened to stumble on and join. Who ever made this Zuki world forum could not have known how great it was at the time, seriously im sure im just one of thousands of people that have been assisted in their projects/builds.
