I know its on here and I did a search (or 10) to no avail.
after a engine swap how do you keep the fuel pump running? it gets it start signal, starts but only runs for a few seconds. I know that a "engine running" signal is needed and I don't remember how to do it.

I should remember!!(But had to look it up.) 93 tracker - Pink wire to A16 on ECM. ECM will ground the relay, which provides power to fuel pump.
Circuit Description:
When the ignition switch is turned to the "ON" position, the control module (ECM) will energize the fuel pump relay for 3 seconds, allowing for fuel pump operation. When the fuel pump relay is de-energized, the fuel pump stops operting. If the engine is sbeing cranked, or is running, the fuel pump relay will continue to operate, as long as the ECM is receiving ignition reference pulses. If the ignition reference pulses are not detected, the fuel pump will stop after 3 seconds.
But this is moot as you are not using Suzuki ECM, are You? (You must be if it runs for 3 sec.'s) If your new ECM does not have a fuel pump control, it needs a ground.
If you left Suzuki ECM in place, and want to use it, run #2 Main Relay wire to your coil B+ wire (it would be a green/white wire that went to your coil), that will signal the Suzuki ECM that motor is running. This will continue to get problematic if you want malfunction light and other dash indications to work.

Yes I still have the Suzuki ECM in place and powered. I would like to keep it that way for now. So yes it's starting for a few seconds and runs out of fuel.'can I just ground one of the wires too fool the ECM to constantly run the fuel pump when key is "on"?

The easiest way would be to ground Pink wire from Fuel Pump Relay to A16 on ECM. (Cut wire and ground relay side, or splice wire and ground.) This will make fuel pump run when Main Power Relay is picked up (key on & start).

well just to get it running I used a rocker switch-to-ground (pink wire to ground) I actually like it as a theft prevention measure. I think it might stay that way with the ubiquitous hidden switch.

The 3 second run stop cycle is a crash safety feature, if the engine stops for
any reason it cuts the fuel pump so it will not feed a fire in case you are not
able to turn the key off.
You can wire the fuel pump to the ignition through a relay, it will not hurt the
pump to run so long as there is a regulator and the fuel returns to the tank
for cooling of the pump, most of the fuel pumps use gasoline as a cooling system
Be aware that if you are ever in a crash the fuel pump will keep running and
could be a very serious safety hazard in event of a fire

well....um....pure laziness I would have to say. I don't want to remove the dash to remove the stock computer and wires right now. I have a big interior "build" planned in the future and will do it all then.
the standalone I have is plenty capable of operating the fuel pump. I will also do that during the interior rehash.
