Title: Water Proofing
Post by: kmohr on April 14, 2011, 08:44:48 AM
Hi all, anybody have any suggestions for water proofing your Sammy? Especially the electronics? I had to replace the relay for my after market relay yesterday. (HINT) not all relays will work only the five prong relays work.  The Sammy starts up fine but it is no longer sealed against water and mud. Any suggestions? Pictures.

use good shrink wrap (the kind with glue inside) over the relay and wiring. it works great. I will post pics when I get to wiring my Audikick.
it makes a super clean/nice finish.
also you should use some dielectric grease on connections (spades) first.

hope this helps! ;D

Coat all the connections with dielectric grease, available at any good auto parts store. Your always going to get water places where it shouldn't be, so sealing up all the connections is not a great idea, you want the moisture to be able to dry out and also you want to be able to get to the connections if you need to without cutting anything. Just get a tube of dieletric grease and put it in every connection you can get at under the hood, and under the body. It's been working for me for years now, and it's wetter n' hell in NJ. My 2 cents.
