ok my rear diff roars when im going down the road well i think its my rear diff. any ways i want to pull it and replace it with some 4.62s i want to do front and rear swap. will i need to shim at all when putting in the new diffs im completely lost as what to do so this works properly. any advice would be great or any links to something that could tell me how to do this the right way> 1995 geo tracker 1.6 3 speed auto THANKS im planning on replacing rear main bearring and all my ujoint when i do this as well

No shims are needed, you can adjust the gears in the third member before re-installing the diff. There is a good article over at Acks Faq that covers adjusting the backlash. Just go to http://www.acksfaq.com (http://www.acksfaq.com) and do a search for 'backlash'.
