I was thinking on trying the terra 35 superwinch 3500 lb from princess auto on front of my x-90 , does anyone have any experience with this winch ? Not sure if it will have enough balls for my x-90.

It will work to pull you forward, but a 6000+ is recommended. You usually want to go at least 1.5 time the weight of the vehicle you want to tow. I prefer at least 2x.
With the low cost of 8000lb winches that work well enough for light use it's usually worth it to jump up to the stronger winches, even if they don't pull as fast.

Thanks, the 3500 is 389.00 can , do you know of a good 6000 lb range winch close to that price ?

Hi there, you can get a 8500lbs superwinch at Canadian tire for 399.99$.
Simon, Montreal.

Thanks...i'll look into that.

Do you have a Harbor Freight up there? You can sometimes get the Chicago Electric winch for around 300, should be similar pricing up north. Not the fastest in the world and you should probably pull the motor apart every few years to clean it out, quicker if you like to dunk it under the water, but they work and will get you out of a jam.

Hope you know what will happen when you add that 75lb winch to the nose of a X90!! :o

Same thing that will happen to a Sidekick !

Hilarity?

I accually want to add weight to the front , the calmini front suspension seems a bit stiff , they even tell you in the calmini guide that the kit is built for equiped vehicles with heavy bumpers, winch ect. The x-90 is a very light rig, i think it could use xtra weight on that beefed up suspension.

I got a 6000# Vortec on Ebay for about $240.00 US shipped. The weight difference between 6000# and the 8000# is about double . Like 43 lbs vs 90+. Not the fastest but hasn't failed me yet. For tough stuff, I have a snatch block and a 100ft synthetic rope rated at 19000#
