Title: Alt. Compatability
Post by: AndrewK on May 21, 2010, 08:40:23 AM
Hello Everyone,  been a while since i've been back here!

My alternator went last night.  Apparently a champion reman is 184$ + 70$ core...I don't really want to spend that on anything champion.

The trackkicks get eaten up at the wreckers almost instantly, but if your lucky you can find a metro.  Do the metro alts. fit up to a 16v 1.6 97 Geo Tracker?

Thanks!

Go to Rockauto and check different vehicles; see if the same part number comes up.

I have used a metro alternator in place of a trackick alternator.....it worked fine.

The one I swapped on was 55 amps, just like the 1.6 trackick alternators.

That was probably not the original - if I recall correctly the Metro has a 35A alternator, and the Swift has the 55A.

I know it wasn't a reman.  It was a metro with the 1.3, not the 1.0, if that makes a difference.
