hi, hoping someone can help, i have an '02 grand vitarta and have recently developed problem with the wipers, suddenly the delay and auto-park have quit working, the slow and fast settings work fine. i have researched and it sounds like its a wiper relay that has gone out, however im having trouble in locating the wiper relay, i called my local dealer they wernt much help, they even told me that they didnt think there was a relay and all the controls are in the switch.
has anyone heard of this issue? or does anyone have a layout/map for the relays?
thanks

as far as i know, that system is all in the multifunction switch, at least it was on my sidekick when i had the same problem.
so the dealer might be right.
ill have a look in my repair manual just in case tho....

The diagram shows that, inside the combination switch, is an item called INT RELAY (intermittent relay?). It does not appear as a spared item in the Parts List, so your best bet is a combination switch from a scrapped vehicle.

Go to your local junkyard and get a new switch it should be an all in one switch in the steering console...most junkyard will pull items like this for you....the one in my area even tells you how they took it out so you can put it in...they are not allowed to wreck the console to get the switch, they must remove it neatly thus they have knowledge how to put it back in....at least that what the junkyards near me do to offer better customer service
Junkyard is your best and cheapest bet...or you can hope it fixes itself somehow

Hey, here's an idea...
Go to a junkyard, and get an equally old used switch that will fail in a year or so, just like the one you replaced.
These fail. Mine did, others have as well, and used ones that work now eventually will.
If you know anyone with a Sammy, this is similar to the heater blower switch. They ALL fail. Used ones just haven't failed yet.
My 2 cents? Buy a dealer replacement.

thanks for the info, think i'll shell out the $$$ and call the dealer

Junkyard switches come with a warranty .... at least they do here......3-6-12 month warranties....even NEW switches can break or die out in a year....WHAT IF statements piss me off
WHAT IF he buys a junkyard switch and it does not break and lasts him the rest of his vehicles life 10-30 dollars gone
WHAT IF he buys the dealership switch and it dont last,,,,,,,,,,,, 50-80 dollars gone
VICE versa
my 2 cents my switch has 180000km worth the use on it and not one problem after 9 years of age 2 years sitting
my brand new 500 dollar egr valve(dealer bought they did not honor the warranty) ) lasted 35000km then died.....the 40 dollar junkyard egr valve I bought for 40 dollars has lasted me 80000km
by the way if you dont let them install the switch or a warranty approved mechanic most likely your warranty for the part will be severly cut or not honored...once again this is the way it is in my area
