I know the answer has to be here! I have a 95, 4wd, 5 speed manual, manual hubs. How do I tow this with a tow dolly or flat towing? Second question, I had an owners manual but it's now bit the dust (why I can't find answer to #1) where can I download a copy? TIA

I just got my towbar mounted up on my 90 2dr tintop, 5spd 1.6L 8v. I haven't tried it yet, but am planning on going up the hill Monday with it. I'll let you know how it does. The towbar states to not go over 45mph, so I'm gonna stick with that especially this first time. The other guy going anyway is towing his boat with his Yota, so he's not in a hurry either, 45mph is fine.
I know the manual states to keep your hubs unlocked (definitely) and transfer case in "N" and transmission in "2". Something about proper lubrication of an input/output shaft in the transmission.

keep in mind that if you are going to tow a lifted or modded vehicle it might cause some issues. The tow bar works with the front tires on the ground so proper caster and camber angles are very important.
We installed a shakle lift (yes I know they suck...not my rig) and after this the zuke would not follow.
Just go real easy at first and if it's going cause issues it won't take long. I'm going to build one for the LJ and the zuke truck. Hopefully I"ll be able to pull them ok.

Well I towed the Tracker up yesterday. It was scary as hell. When I think about it, when I'm towing a trailer, that weight is pushing my truck forward, but the tongue weight on the truck keeps things stable. With no tongue weight, this was not the case with the Tracker. I had to take the turns extremely slow, because twice (once on the way up, once on the way back) the Tracker started pushing the back of my truck to the outside of the turn, almost causing me to fishtail. If it wasn't for the lack of oncoming traffic, I would have lost control; since I used all the lanes to correct before the back end started sliding. What scares me most is that this was in the hot summer weather in broad daylight. I'd hate to see what would happen in the stormy winter weather, when it's raining or snowing, and if the roads are icy. I'm sure I would be taking turns <5mph if that's the case. I think I will be driving the Tracker a lot more than I thought I would be after what happened yesterday.
This was also with the transmission in 2nd, transfer case in neutral, steering wheel kept free, and front hubs unlocked.

That's pretty odd.
Although I have never flat-towed a Tracker (I have one), I have flat-towed my Samurai many times. The only time I had that sort of problem was when I towed using a Pinzgauer 710M - which has swing-arm rear suspension. The rear end tends to lose grip under heavy braking despite the fact the truck weighs in a 4300 pounds. It scared the cr|removethispart|@p out of me on an exit ramp. BTW, The Pinzie is long gone ;D
What were you towing with?
Have you done anything to the front suspension? If the Caster is changed (highly unlikely) or the toe is not set properly, you could be feeling those changes.

I read ( don't remember where) that I couldn't /shouldn't tow anything the size of a tracker without a load in the box of my GMC 3/4T. Seems that it pushes the back end around too easily. Haven't tried it yet

The tow rig is a fullsize 1/2 ton chevy pickup, 2003 4x4 silverado. The Tracker definitely has bad alignment, after installing the Calmini the camber was not adjusted, I am breaking it in for the time being. I thought about it but wouldn't think it would affect the tow rig's handling. I think it's definitely broken in now. Got over 600 miles on the fresh suspension, and about 15 miles on the trail beating the crap out of it on monday
