Title: Cavalier rear shocks
Post by: bzzr2 on June 30, 2009, 07:30:46 AM
anybody on this site ever use them?  i read on zookpower that they work well and since i need new shocks again i had a look yesterday, they're about 1.5inches longer than my mustang shocks and look like they will mount with no mods to the sleeves.. the sleeve might be tight, if so i'll drill it out or get new bolts.  so, anybody ever use em?

You have a Vitara, GV or XL-7? For the regular vits it would seem ok, but underdampened for the two larger ones.

got the shocks in a couple weeks back, they ride nicer than the mustangs for sure, much softer but one thing is that they seem to give a little extra bounce as i have them paired up with xl7 coils which might be a little stiff for the shocks.  the travel is good, had to adjust brake line because it was way too tight, at full droop the coils come out of their seat on top, that is with a 1.75inch spacer back there also.  without bumpstop extensions i might be at risk of losing the coil but all is good.  also had to replace the rear bolts with something thinner.  anyway all in all for 2dr models this is a nice option over the crown vics as they are longer and ride nice.  i have them mounted as low as possible, in other words there is not 2 inches of thread sticking out the top of the mount, maybe 1/2inch.
