Title: Team LIBERTY OVERLAND - Albany, OR
Post by: ebewley on March 17, 2009, 04:39:39 PM
Hello,

Yep, we're going to throw our hat into the ring too. We'll be racing only for exhibition so that we can mix it up with all the rest of you but don't get in the way of anyone winning or placing. We are building a 2-door Sidekick that is bone-stock and been setting for years. I am excited for the challenge and look forward to racing other Suzuki enthusiasts. Oh yeah, and beating Mike Hagen's butt! :)

I'll be posting build pics as they happen....

Sure, imagine a stock 2wd Sidekick setting beside a shop with all 4 tires flat, windows down, no interior.... BOOM! There you have it! :)

Should be in my place this winter (with a shop again  8)  >:D ) I may have to try something like this if I can find a cheap one. I wonder if a tracker could make it form TN to N. Washington, race and make the drive home  :-\

????????

So as long as the res is mounted to the shock that is ok?  Attach the res. to the cage or something else is a no-no?

Please clarify ???

Hey Jay,

Remote mounting of a shock is entirely different then remote mount resevoirs on a shock. A remote mounted shock is a shock that is mounted on a cantilever set up or a rocker arm. This makes it so the shock could be place inboard the frame and even horizontal if one wanted. A remote mounted resevoir is just that the res for the shock oil. They are ok and can be mounted any where you'd like provided it's safe.

Page two of the class spec:

ZWC: SHOCK ABSORBERS & BUMP STOPS
A maximum of one shock per wheel is permitted. Shock locations are optional. Rear shocks may
protrude through the bed of the vehicle. Front Shocks may protrude through the inner fender well
of the vehicle.
Shocks may not be remote mounted. (Remote reservoir is acceptable)
Remote mounted shocks; coil-over shocks, air springs and air shocks are not permitted.
Moveable bump stops are not permitted. (This includes hydraulic and air bumps)

I've attached a couple of examples of a remote mounted shock. (this would NOT be acceptable.)

So could you mount a shock off the rear trailing arms like a TT does?

Thanks Eric for organizing this race, and letting us stay at your pad. It was cool finally meeting you in person. I doubt that team zukspeed will be back on labor day, but we just might. ;)

Getting excited for the 2010 season. I can't imagine doing a 400+ mile race yet... Wow. Anyway, we're starting to fix and upgrade the race truck and I'm hoping to get out and do some testing in late October. If anyone is interested in coming out with us for a weekend of frivolity, please let me know.

-Eric

PS. I'm still finding the disgusting vandalizm that team Zukspeed did to my truck. They are mean... :)

Well, with a team name change and renew sense of 'hell yeah' it's time to get the ol' racer ready...

Pulled it out of storage and have to get a little of that 'storage' out of it. :)

Here we go!
