I just completed a clutch replacement on my87 Samurai. Be sure to have the flywheel surfaced. I opted to buy a new one as the starter ring gear was a bit worn. Plus the cost of the resurface verses new wasnt much.
Also, I replaced the rear seal. It can be done without removing the retainer plate. Simply drill a couple of small pilot holes in the seal metal face. Then screw in a couple of self tapping screws. I then used a claw hammer to pull it out. Was very easy. May want to also replace the trans front and rear seals as they are just as easy to do also.
Good luck
