Been there since I bought it....has a red and green light that blink often...so it's wire is definately connected to something. Any ideas?
I don't have any aftermarket lights...or GPS...or...?
Only thing I can tell you is that the track USED to have a cb.....And I think it was a tow vehicle in a past life. There was some other wiring I removed that was spliced into the lights.
Not super important....the box is apparently harmless...tracker runs fine. Just curious as to whether I can remove it or not.
THANKS!!!

I have no idea but the first thing that popped into my mind was "BLACK BOX" as in vehicle recording the last ten seconds or so just before the airbags go off type black box.
I really dont know, Hmm is interesting though.
It doesnt look like a factory install so who knows what it is I have a 700watt power inverter wired into my tracker just for fun.

It looks like an old car alarm infrared emitter. When you have the top down and somebody sticks their arm into the car it goes off. Im not sure if its infared or some kind of microwaves. Anyhow It looks like and alarm piece. I think the little adjustments are how you make the field larger or smaller, and adjust the sensativity.

Best suggestion yet I think...
it IS centrally located in the vehicle...and it DOES have a little screw adjustment.....
thanks for your ideas guys....keep em comin.

That looks like a Viper(DEI) Proximity Sensor that hooks into an alarm. As said above, movement inside the vehicle(as well as outside), will trigger the alarm. When set properly, motion within a certain distance from the outside will sound a warning alarm, and if you go inside the set distance it will go off. Very common to use in a convertible. Follow the wire, and you should find the actual alarm, unless the PO removed it.

Looks like part of an alarm system to me too.

I had the same box in mine. It was a part for the alarm.
