Just rebuilding my motor, and I have the Calmini Header, highflow cat, etc.
I was tossing around the idea of putting a supercharger on it. It would not be that hard to do. Kind of already had a setup in mind.
Just wondering if anyone else had this same crazy idea.
I heard Calmini had a Supercharger kit out once, but I can not find any info on it.

Thats WAY nicer than what i was thinking about doing. The Intercooler was a good idea, kind of the STI style. I LIKE IT!! Thanks for the link
-
No problem...
I agree with you on the intercooler, its screaming STI!

There was a bright yellow sammy with one of those on consignment at a used car dealer here in Pueblo Colorado. I don't remember if it had a intercooler. I wonder what kind hp you could get out on one those, and it would be neat if they made one for the sidekicks.

That is so beautiful, I think I'm gonna cry.

If it fits a 1.3 then it will fit a 1.6 too.

That is an AWESOME setup...I'd love to do something like this to my Tracker eventually 8)
I take it they got the intercooler from a Mercedes Kompressor... :P
BTW, anybody know what kinda power that little beast makes after the supercharger setup?

I was checking out the camden site, but couldnt find really any info on this set up.
The most info i think i could find was the $2500 price tag.
Or i didnt search hard enough.

My wifes C230 Kompressor is only 1.9 ltrs, supercharged it makes right about 200 hp, but that's not the whole story, it makes gobs of torque right off idle. Feels more like a v8, revs like a 4. Awesome motor. Looks like someones 230 is missing all of it's supercharger bits after checking out that Sammy. That thing is beautiful, really pro looking work.

That slime green Zuk is a 1.6... 16 valve ;)

Yes, I recognised it, its the Chilean world altitude holder. What I was trying to say was that the Camden kit for the 1.3 will fit the 1.6 OK. The pic that I posted is actually a 1.6 8V.
For those who don't recognise it. The supercharger was fitted primarily for getting more air into the engine at altitude. There is a post on here somewhere with links to the details.

I know a supercharger definitely would help me out, Alot of the wheeling we do is above 10,000ft. I noticed a considerable power loss just from moving from sealevel to the Denver area (5,280). The Calmini headers and custom intake got me some power back, but a supercharger sure would be nice. I just cant justify the $2,000 + price tag yet.
-
Turbo? ;)
-
I thought about a turbo, there is room for one. But I like the idea that a supercharger gives you the power all the time, where as with the turbo you have to get you rpms up first.
-
No matter what kind of system you build/buy, it's gonna cost you at LEAST that much to get it right. Have you considered an engine swap, maybe the 4.3? No replacement for displacement.
-
some dude over at pirate4x4 just got him self a Camden supercharger for his 1.3.
here's the link to it if your interested in it.

The chevy vortec 4.3? That would be a huge powerplant for the zuki. I have that in my astro and it pulls the my zuki down the highway at 80mph plus. You know anyone who has done the swap? That should be an eazy motor to get ahold of.
-
I personally havent put the vortec in my kick, but my cousins husband just put on in his sammy. It hasnt hit the trails yet, but it has awesome power. It went in easy but he is still working out the bugs.
-
Hey I was at Moab this year. There is a company that sells a kit to put a v-6 in a samari and sidekick. I can't remember the name though. Also RRO has a kit
