Title: Diesel Conversion?
Post by: Lunchbox5k on January 25, 2008, 05:07:56 PM
Has anyone seen a diesel conversion done on a sidekick. I have visited the rocky road website and see that they have the conversion listed under the sami. If it not i got a 94 geo with the 8v is it interchangable with minor complications with a 91 sidekick?

I saw an older tracker (91) with a vw 1.9l diesel in it. Was told it bolted right up with minor mods.

Talk to a guy named lacrosse10604 He sold his 93 4door with a deseil conversion a few months back. I think he said he did the swap himself with the acme kit. Should I have the money I would very much consider doing this swap.

Which motor would be better to use, the 1.6T or the 1.9T? How about propane injection, anybody ever seen that?

I imagine 1.6 vs 1.9 is simply a matter of power vs cost. One guy around here dropped $5k+ on a VW 1.9TDi  crate motor. Check your local junk yards and thrifty nicle for Foxes with whole engine compartment or fair running beaters. It's a significant swap.
