well, ive been jealouse of a buddy of mine with a in-dash touch screen dvd player....so i had to get one for my lil trucklet!!keep in mind this is my winter beater, so i got a decently priced one off e-bay....and to let anyone whos thinking about a dvd player in your ride...if you flip the dash mount kit upside down, you can even still use the selector for floor/vent/defrost and the blower switch..

Time to use that new camera you got for Christmas!
-
Deffinently requires some pictures.
-

I was wondering how those would look in there. I want to see someone install a double height screen setup in there. :)
What do you have installed above the DVD player?
-
those are just some pop-rivits....i drilled some holes in the little filler panel for the dash installation kit, and stuck them in there....thought it would be cool.....but it isnt anything other than some rivits.....also....i just bought an alarm system $100 |removethispart|@ pep-boys....really simple to hook up....comes with motion detector and power drawl detector too.....nice little addition to the truck.....the screen made my speakers louder...it is 40 watts x4 rms....where most cd players are 50-60x4 watts MAX power..mine is 80 watts x4 max power, and my pre-out for my subwoofer is 6 volt instead of 2.5-4 volt as in most cd player units....definatly worth the money, im gonna have to say this was the next best investment to the lift and tires.....now i can drive anywhere, park and watch movies or play my playstation right in my trucklet.....the night i got it me and the old lady went out 4 wheelin, and i climbed a huge hill, and we chilled for about an hour and a half and watched a movie and chilled back in state land...
-
by the way...these are lcd screens...meaning liquid crystal display.....crystal clear picture quality.....better than my 62" big screen |removethispart|@ home
-
Ok, now I want to go and buy one for my high adventure rig!!!!

Only if I can put a GPS and mapping software on it! :P
I think the double din ones will fit without the pop-up screen.

the screens almost all have the gps capability...i know for $90 bucks i can buy the box that controls all that....its a seperate little black box that has its own special plug that plugs right into the back of it....the gps box is what most refer to it as.....and for the doiuble din sized screen.....i chose not to go with this one because the screen is actually smaller than the ones with the flip out screen...so...naturally.....i had to get the one with the bigger screen....
-
did i also tell you guys that this thing has a USB cable right on it?? my ipod is tucked up under my dash....all the folders are listed on my screen, and when its on, it charges my ipod

sounds cool
(i never know how to find the door trigger wires when doing alarms)
-
i used the dope scope sensors in the door frame for the door switched on the alarm
(just the factory dom light switched)
-
Do you have any more pic's of the dvd player out of the box and do you have a link on the black box I would like to see how this thing works and how the gps would hook to the black box sounds interesting to say the least! I like high tech stuff but living in bfe it is kinda hard to see this stuff in action or in person.
-
so what did you give for it out of curiosity
-
I have been looking at the Mio GPS. You can hack them easily to just run the Windows CE operating system instead of booting straight to the GPS software. Then you can put a Topo map program on it. :)

drone ...
I'm holding off on pics, but I have a smallish laptop (ibm 240X) running topo with a GPS USB adapter I plan on mounting into my dash :) ...

i dont have any pics of it out of the box...its just a single din sized radio basically....all of the wires are the same and what not as a regular cd player, with the exception of all the crazy wires for aux inputs...there is 2 sets of them, a remote sensor, the usb cable, and the plug for the black nav. box...i dont have any pics of the nav box...its about the size of a cassette, but thicker, just has a large plug, and to use it you just push the navigation button on the screen.....i paid 300 for mine and it came with the dash kit to mount it and the plug for the factory harness, so it was just a plug and play type thing....mine is a lanzar sdbt77nr model...
