ive come to the conlusion that im putting a 4.3 in my samuari. i was gonna build a 1.6 but even then i wont have as much power as a stock 4.3 does. first question is how hard would it be to make the clutch a hydrolic clutch? is there enough room for a master cylinder or should i just run a automatic tranny ?

I've looked into doing a conversion before here is a helpful link

see im actually not sure now.. how much power could i get from a mildly built 1.6 8v(cam, shave the head, weber, etc. ? the problem is i go out with toyota that all have small blocks in them and we play in the deep mud so im thinking a 4.3 might be the best bang for my buck to get some good power
-
yeah thats all really expensive ??? maybe ill just build a 8v motor
-
If you play in mud, I would never load up the front end with the weight of a 4.3. I have mud bogged lil Suzy quite extensively with a 1.6 8V. I was running front and rear lockers and 31X12.50 boggers and never had a problem spinning the tires, or breaking axles for that matter. All in all I think you would be much better off with a nice light 1.6. Dave

i have a sammi with a 4.3 on 33's locked front and rear for sale and by the way you wont get stuckwith a 4.3 you can plow through anything i have never been stuck

ive decided to save my money and do a 1.6 16 valve and build that motor a little bit any idea of the hp numbers i should expect ?

If your still interested in doing the 4.3 I have Misc Brackets from suzuki lightning conversion Let me know Thanks!!
-
you should find someone that has a 16 valve and drive it, I don't think you would need to build it.mine has a 1994 16v but a friend of mine has a 1998 16v engine in his and has more power but mine has plenty.

what brackets do u have?
-
will lightning's kit work on older 4.3 vortec v6's? like an 88'?
-
i would think it would the blocks pretty much stayed the same.. maybe..

As far as i know they are all the same, it is just a 350 less the front 2 cylinders, all of the front end will bolt up off a 350 and the trannys all bolt up the same. The early 4.3 had a 200r4 trans the laters have a 4L60E. Hope this helps!!! ;D My other luv is Chevys!!! 8) ;D
