Title: 95 Tracker front diff

I have a 1995 Tracker and i keep breaking front diffs.  Is this a common problem, or I'm i just lucky (and it's not because of rocks).  If anyone has or knows someone that has a good front diff and wants to sell it, please let me know.  My tack is a 2dr 5 speed with stock 5.125 gears.  I just bought a 96 2dr auto track but the gears are different, so i'll probably part it out for cheap.  Please help...  Thanx.

What exactly is breaking? CV's? Axles? Housings? R&P? Dave

Sounds like you either need to take it easier with it or
Go with the Steel Third replacement out of a GV.

Try that, if you still have issues with the CV's, contact 37Kicker for a Toyota CV conversion kit.

My aluminum housing is snapping off at the mounting bracket.  That Calmini Anvil set up would definetly fix my problem, but i would also have to buy the Calmini 3" suspension lift in order to use the Anvil set-up.  This would all be great if i had $1500.00 to throw into it...  I guess i'll have to try and find a stock diff and just take it easy on the trails.  Thanx for all the help, it was greatly appreciated.

Ya don't really need the Anvil if ya can't afford it.
Next best thing is Just the Steel third and a Sammie rear center section (4pin Spider gear)
Machined out to fit the Kicks splines.(what I run, when I do)

Pick-up a steel housing from a XL-7 and a Steel 3rd from a Grand Vitara. I believe your carrier will swap right into the 3rd, could be wrong. I'm going to do this swap when I put in an ARB locker in the front.

A friend of mine bought a second complete aluminum axle, and had gussets and other braces welded over the whole thing. It looked really cool. He also welded the spider gears. The welding work cost him a total of a flat of beer, and he installed the axle. He has 33's, and he's not easy on it! So far so good. He did have to add power steering though  ::)

I wonder if they changed the design of the aluminum axle housing at some point. I still have the original housing in lil Suzy and have been running boggers on her since the mid 90's. She had lots of axle breakage until I upgraded to larger axles and sami carrier with locker. I have taken out a lot of CV's since then, but the housing is as good as new.

There used to be some vendors who were selling braces for the aluminum housings. I have not looked for awhile so I do not know if they still are being made. If not it shouldn't be to hard to fab something up. even a length of chain and a bolt around the carrier and cross-member should work. Dave
