Title: Stock skidplate thickness
Post by: olija on February 12, 2007, 08:25:42 PM
I am going to be buying some metal to make some underbody protection for my 'kick...engine, transmission, and transfer case to be exact.

If anybody has the stock skidplates, I'd like to know if they are 3/16" or 1/8". I called the metal shop and they quoted me $150 (Canadian) for a 40"x65" sheet...seems a bit steep so I figured if I can get away with 1/8" I will do it.

Mine's off at the moment, it's about 1/8, pushing 3/16.

I made a skid plate for my Samurai out of 1/8" thick steel.
It was not strong enough and bent.  I would recommend using 3/16".
I know steel is very expensive now, but it's worth it.
