I have a chance to pick up a 1.6 chevy Spectrum Turbo. Can any one tell me if I can bolt that turbo up to a Tracker. Thanks Ahead, George.

Spectrum was a Toyota if I remember right,
the turbo would be a good match, get the
car if the price is right.

I think he wa talking about the manifold(header). ;)

Ya, so was I
If it were a Toyota would you expect
the Manifold to fit a Suzuki?
I think he is thinking the Chevy Spectrum
is like a Chevy Tracker, and built by the same
maker, and with the same engine, which this
is not.
However, a 1.6L turbo equipped car has all the
EFI and many good hardware components to
build a Turbo SideKick from, and if you have an
8V engine, the MPI EFI system would be a big
help in getting enough fuel into the engine over
teh TBI system on the 8V engine

Morning all
The Spectrum/I Mark is an Izusu and extremely well built (I own an I Mark Turbo with 399,000km).
Izusu is primarily a heavy truck company and this has resulted in some neat spin offs on the little Turbo cars.
- Turbo is bias to low/midrange, like a big truck, from driving my rig I would think this Turbo
system would cross over well for off road work.
- Turbo layout is simple and uncomplicated, which will make it easy to adapt to the 8v Suzuki
- Wiring relating to the system is relatively uncomplicated.
Problems...
- Parts are getting a little tought to get which is why I'm getting ready to pull mine off the
road.
- Turbo Cars, at least in my part of the world, are getting real rare.
If you are going to build your own turbo system, as Wild has pointed out, this is a great place to start.

What do you Guys think about a complete swap?
-
#1 the motor mount might be troublesome (going transverse to longitudital)
#2 mating a tranny behind it ??? a adapter for a zuk trans? is there a nother tyrans that could bolt up?
#3 if you don;t use a zuk trans, you'll need a divorced tcase (sami probably) that then needs to be adapted to the trans
I'm not pissing on the idea, but seems like LOTSA work.
The folks at advanced adapters may e able to help ya out more ...

The spectrum is an Isuzu. it was later sold as the Geo Storm(but with no turbo, and half the options of the isuzu spectrum) Another thing(even though you are using the car for the turbo) is that the Geo Storm/Isuzu spectrum of the early 90s had the worst rear seat I have ever sat in. I am only 5'7'' and my head was hitting the rear glass ;). The reason I know all about these is because my friends girlfriend had one ;). either way, it would probably be a good buy, just be sure the turbo is in good condition(doesnt make smoke from oil being sucked past the seals)

I would not try to put the Izusu into the Kick....
No advantage and tougher than fabbing the Turbo system to the Suzuki.
The engines are about equal in terms of reliability and longiveity.
The adaption shouldn't be too tough, look it over...but those are my thoughts.
