Title: Tracker rear axle shaft removal
Post by: explosivo on June 11, 2006, 09:13:02 AM
How in the heck do the rear axle shafts come out of the housing in a Trackick rear axle? I removed the four nuts that hold the drum on, took the drum off, and then removed the four nuts that hold the axle retainer deal around, but unlike my D44s, the axle shaft only comes out a couple inches and then completely stops. Any help is appreciated.

Slide Hammer, the bearing comes off with the axle shaft
and can be a %#$|removethispart|@&  to get off. I built a slide hammer
out of an old twisted axle, put bolts thru the end and a
section of heavy square tubing, was 2 pieces of angle iron
for the hammer, works like a charm

You can also use a high lift jack or a piece of chain and something heavy hooked to it.

you could always have some work done at just brakes, they will leave some nuts/bolts out and the axle will come out on you going around  a random corner somewhere........ ::)
