Title: Cleaning out the heater ...
Post by: SnoFalls on February 16, 2005, 01:00:24 PM
I can tell my tracker has some junk (twigs, etc) down near the fan and probably packed in other places as well.

I spent about 20 minutes once seeing about pulling the blower, but stopped when my back started acting up.

Is there a shortcut to getting in there to clean it out? I could just start diassembling stuff, but if someone's been down road this let me know the tricks.

I have a 95 kick. The blower motor on mine is located behind the glove box. If I remember right there was only three or four screws holding it in place and the wiring harness for the blower. I droped mine but there was hardly anything in there due to the fact the blower sent it down to the AC rad :'(. Before I go any longer into this, can you tell me what options you have on your rig. (ac/heat or just heat)There is a lot of diffent ways on how to do this.  :)

no a/c in mine ...

dropping the blower was what I started to do, but my back started to rebel, so I put the 2 screws I'd pulled from the blower back in and called it a day. Afterwards is when I started wondering if there was a better/easier way to clean it (i.e. pull something and fish in the shopvac hose or ...)

well, since you don't have A/C, there's no A/C rad in the box just the left of the blower housing. drill a good size hole in there, and stick the shop vac in there!
