Title: 1 1/4 spacers and 4 door springs, will it work?
Post by: zoomzoom on April 12, 2006, 10:16:00 AM
Hello again everyone, my question today is how much lift can the front cvs take. i have herd of many combinations but i was wondering if this would work. i have 1 1/4 spacers in the front with the factory pads and i want it a little bigger. im not looking to get a body lift because a strait axle is in the near future. but i was wondering if i could run a set of 4 door springs with the spacers? is that too much. Or can i take out the stock isolator pads so its only 1" spacer and the springs. what do you all think the front cvs can take? thank
lance

I wouldn't go more than 2" without lowering the axle.  Have you got strut spacers?

I did the strut flip, do i need spacers if i proceed? dont the 4 door springs lift the 2 door 1.5 inches? so your saying dont do it? would 2.5 be too much? thanks

I wouldn't go more than 2" without lowering the axle.

I would just lower the front diff if you want that much lift.  It doesn't look like it would be too hard to fab some lowering brackets.  That's probably what I'll do soon just 'cause I don't like the looks of the angle on my CV's.

If the spacers are 1 1/4" thick than they will give a lot more lift than that because of the leverage ratio of the front wishbones. In stock form there is only 2 " of downward wheel travel so I doubt if you've got much left now. If you add longer springs as well then you could easily  be at maximum wheel drop static and you will just be compressing the springs further which is going to make the ride pretty hard.

wait, do 4 door springs do anything for lift or ride stiffness?  I herd they wont give much lift at all but, do ride nicer than 2 door springs.

So, any noticable lift?  Can anyone clear this up for me?  I want a slight lift and better ride but, at the price of coil spacers now, Im thinking ripping out 4 door coils would be much cheaper.

springs from 4door grand vitara will give you approx. 2" lift, but you got a 2door vitara?

then you might not need the spacers to get just a 2"lift? (please don't shoot me if i'm wrong)
