Title: Removal of a Geo emblem on a Tracker, help!
Post by: Tracker_Camps96 on March 29, 2006, 12:02:57 PM
Anyone know how to get that Geo emblem off the grille?   I havent looked at it, but I want to take it off to replace it or make it look nice.   The inside mustve been sun baked and the gray parts are falling apart.   Maybe Ill make a custom one, I dunno.   Hows it held on?   Please PM me!

An eight point buck at 50 MPH takes it off pretty efficiently...

Holy shit!   Well, I hit a turkey once doing 55.   It jumped out of the ditch and hit the windshield right in front of me first.   If it didnt hit the roof a little, Id be dead, seriously.   Little over $1000 damage.

On 89-95 and some 96-98 Trackers you have to remove the grille and there ar two nuts that hold the emblem on the grille.  SOME 96-99 trackers have the emblems held on the grill strickly with double sided tape.  Either way I would remove the grille to make sure you dont break anything ;) Which is done as follows

89-95 Tracker:

Remove 1 screw in the uper center of the grill (above the emblem) and remove 1 screw from each fenderwell. Then just pull grille straight out.

96-98 Tracker:

Remove 1 screw in upper center of the grillethen you have to GENTLEY pull the top out the grille out and pull up on the Grill to disengage the clips at the bottom (there are 4) two inboard of the headlights that need to be pulled out and one under each headlight that have to be pulled up to disengage. Take your time or youll break the grille (trust me)

hope this helps

Thanks a bunch, im hoping its the nuts.   Ive yanked the grille off several times to get that stripe on and to put several neons behind it, but just never looked at what held the GEO emblem on.   I wonder if I could make my geo emblem chrome and white? Hmmmmm.

I recommend taking the Geo emblem off and getting a Suzuki emblem!  ;)

Nah, when I race guys in their little rice racers, I want them to know they got beat by a Geo.   I took on this guy with a modded Honda Civic, I think he was pretty pissed that I pulled away from him.   Not bad for around 125 HP.   I waved at him after he turned off.   I bet he was thinking "Geo thats decked out?   I will waste him!!"   My header and exhaust surely made the difference.

My '96 Tracker also has two screws on the lower part of the grill left and right of center (about 10 inches), so it takes three screws to get the grill off.

Don't know how the emblem was held on...  ...never found that part...

Personally, I like it better with the Suzuki badge on the front, even if I did have to cut the grill to fit.

After the wreck...

89-95 Tracker:

Remove 1 screw in the uper center of the grill (above the emblem) and remove 1 screw from each fenderwell. Then just pull grille straight out.

Not on my 93...   My 93 has those,  PLUS two across the bottom of the grille assembly.. as shown on my diagram (note, I replaced my grill center with expanded steel after trail damage)

Just look, the only hidden ones are the ones under the fenders on each side.. as the whole lower
"lip"  comes off with the grille (at least on mine)

See the pic below.. the green painted part comes off with the black grill as one piece, unlike on a 96... not sure when they changed.. but I wanted to add this about the 93, in case somebody else reads this...., kinda snaps in and out, after the two lower screws, the two under the fender corners, and the one above the emblem

and then, two clips for the emblem.. they are those cheapo clips on mine.. I am sure they varied on different years, but mine was this way

Those emblems are so damn ugly.  I just grabbed it and pulled and it came off with a little force.  It didn't mess anything up except the emblem.

Just go to town on that hunka crap lookin thing.
