Well I finally got my spacers made. I bought a 1.5" thick block of UHMW plastic that cost me $35.00. Friday night I used a hole saw to drill out the inside diameter and eased one end of the hole with a round over bit in my router. Saturday I brought my raw material and my Tracker up to the shop at work. I used the brake lathe to make the square outsides round. Talk about a nice finish. Just dial it down to the final cut and engage the auto feed. Nice and smooth.

Sorry man but I don't have a friend that works as a "Shopping Cart Repair Technician" so if I were to go that route I would end up trying to explain to the judge why I was steeling the wheels off of shopping carts. No offense. ;D

I bought my spacers for under $40 from my local 4x shop. They were for an XJ and required about ten total minutes of modifing. I can't imagine the price has gone up that much.

I was looking through a mail order Jeep catalog last night and the coil spacers (Teraflex) were priced at $27.00 each. Another place that I just Googled has them listed for $22.99.
So, all in all I feel pretty good about the price. Also, I realy enjoyed being able to craft the spacers myself. My only regret is that I haven't been able to go to my buddies yet to retrieve the engine lathe that I bought from him. That's another toy that I'm getting pretty excited about.

I always like making things myself too. Besides, now you can spend the money you saved on the longer rear shocks. :D

That's funny! I guess I forgot to mention that the same day I installed some Crown Vic shocks. I need to go out and flex it out some time and get some pics. ;D

Good looking spacers! Nice use of the brake lathe, too... ;)
Got any extra material left? If you have enough to make another pair, whip them up and sell them to make back some of the cost of the material... That's what I did and it worked too well! LOL!

Digger thanks for the compliment. Also, thank for your write up on how to make coil spacers. I had printed it out and referenced it as I built them. I used the "drop" pieces to make a 1-1/2" space for the rear axle upper link mount so that I don't over stress the stock joint.
When I get my lathe I might play around with some more. I'll also build a realy nice 2" or 3" body lift after the lathe gets here. I can't wait! ;)
