Title: Name this part, WE HAVE A WINNER!!!
Post by: Zukipilot on March 01, 2006, 04:23:33 AM
For those of you that have been following Hagens build of the Orange Rig already it is going through some major mods at this very moment.

The first Zukiworld member to visit the "Orange Rig is Getting a Makeover" thread, and correctly ID's the odd looking part being used on the Orange Rig, will win a Zukiworld decal  8)

Let me see, Than looks like it's either a Kanutin valve or a bumper bearing. Then again it might be a muffler module mount!   ;D  ;D  ;D

Front bearing support, for the weak side front axle

I was thinking that too but I think Mike is using that custom Calmini center diff in the makeover. I think that already has bearing support. Speaking of which I can't get Calmini to sell me one of those.   :'(

That part has me perplexed and I work alot with suspension design. That picture doesn't relate how big it is. I based size on the welds. Also is it complete or just part of a part? Hmmmm?

Not real sure what that even is.  Kind of a solid axle guy that doesn't ask questions.
I think he said he was using stock sidekick knuckles...

The more I look at it the smaller I think it is than it looks - I'm thinking a steering brace for the idler arm, or steering box ......
Title: Re: Name this part, win a prize!!!!!
Post by: ZeusZuki on March 02, 2006, 08:02:30 AM
From the looks of it, it has a tapered bearing in the end and attaches to a live component. There does not seem to be any pivot apart from that bearing.
I would guess that it is an upper arm that attaches to a pivot point on the chassis and then bolts up to a knuckle assembly - eg upper / lower arm arrangement 8)

Warm or cold?

I was thinking about that too, but the holes
look to be at different heights, but I can't
quite tell, I need another angle shot
Title: Re: Name this part, win a prize!!!!!

Well after careful pondering and reviewing the threads.......

I would guess that it is the mount for etheir and upper control arm or the mount for the top of a coil over or custom strut set up.

Am I close?

some kind of strut brace and or mount?
Title: Re: Name this part, win a prize!!!!!
Post by: copperzuk on March 02, 2006, 10:01:29 AM
Well the bushing looking thing is a jonny joint.  So it's something that moves or holds something that moves.  Maybe a gaurd that mounts between the a-arms to shield the cv's.

it's some kind of portal box bracket ???
Title: Re: Name this part, win a prize!!!!!
Post by: Quaddawg on March 02, 2006, 01:13:05 PM
OK, you are going to run dual coil over shocks and upper and lower control arms in the front, and this is the upper mount for the dual shocks... with a johhny joint between them..

I am about stumped here

A better picture would be nice and something next to it for a size refernce.  ;D
Title: Re: Name this part, win a prize!!!!!
Post by: Quaddawg on March 02, 2006, 01:48:59 PM
OK, it's a lot smaller than I originally thought.. and it is an adapter to switch over from ball joints, to johnny joints for the lower spindle mount....

The small hole is for a sway bar link...

Title: Re: Name this part, win a prize!!!!!

One of you is on the right trac but not close enough to win.  ;) I think we may have a winner soon. I dont blame anybody for being stumped cause Stan and I (Mostly Stan ;)) built it...   it doesnt look anything like what we thought it should! :P

Mike

Clue: Its a common part, just built differently than I have ever seen. ::)

a driveshaft?  licenseplate mount?

no seriously, its the steering knuckle, right? I cant picture it flat like that, but you could even make some sort of portal ifs setup
Title: Re: Name this part, win a prize!!!!!

it is a anti wheel hop thingy
Title: Re: Name this part, win a prize!!!!!
Post by: zaggy on March 02, 2006, 03:20:37 PM
The more I stare the tougher it gets...

It is

1) The right hand frame mounted upper support for the coil over shock/strut units you were threatening us with

2) Steering box mount to meet the geometery you were talking about, again frame mounted.

Center mount Tie-rod holder or Idler arm
Title: Re: Name this part, win a prize!!!!!
Post by: Uncivilized on March 02, 2006, 11:48:49 PM
Yeah, like a center mount idler arm, one big pivot point, 2 holes to attach the steering rods and the third for the main steering box rod.... flip the pic upside down, and I think that's how it sits.

Zukiworld flew me to Minni-soda last night to try and gather further photos of the Top Secret project. With the top-notch technological magic of the night vision x-ray parts camera, I was able to isolate the mystery part as mounted on the Top Secret Project.

Sadly, the Mountain Dew Crew had some kind of survalance blocker that turned my picture into a MS paint drawing  :P
