Title: My Hill descent technicality: exo cage? (dial up)
Post by: SiKiD_01 on January 13, 2006, 09:57:30 PM
we went out for a quick wheel on the 13-01-06, had some fun.

well, i always tell people that if they come out wheeling with me, they are always in for some action, or a laugh.

pics may speak louder in this situation.

First flop?  Now you wont have to worry about denting that side anymore.   ;D  I wanna try not to do that in my Tracker.  My YJ is a different story, there isn't a straight panel.

When your Rig is on its side, its a good time to inspect the underneath, tight bolts or chnge the oil.  :D

My YJ (CJ Grill added)  flopped, I didn't want to thread jack with a picture post.

yeah, its my 1st. i dont plan on doing a full roll, or even one onto the roof.  i've come close to flopping it many a times, but the good ol vit just didnt ever want to go over. i guess it was about time.

i think i'm gonna sort out an exo now.

I'm still contemplating an exo. I think I'm going with an internal 6 pt and tube the front end out some (bumper and fenders) and make some tube fenders for  the rear and bumper also.

That is a shame. I came real close to flopping my zuk the other day... I have a question about it.

In a lot of videos I see people with ropes tied to the top of the rollbar when they are going through lots of obstacles, with guys yanking on the ropes to keep the right side up. Is that very effective? Seems like if it could prevent a flop/roll I would be all for it. "If you want to ride in the zuk you've got to get out and keep it from flopping!"

Well when you get close to going over,
a matter of a few pounds in the right spot
will keep you on all 4 wheels

It's a hell of a lot better than those pictures you see of people going through similar obstacles with 3-5 people hanging off the rollcage and other bits of the vehicle.

Helped do that once, nearly got scraped off on a tree along with a fender flare and turn signal, and realized it wasn't very bright of anyone involved. :P

do you have mirrors that fold back? I have ripped off my fair share of mirrors and I noticed it looks like you have the kind that fold in.  I need to get a set of those!

yep yep yep, i have the folding mirrors! i love them. my mate was so certain that i had crushed my mirror, but it just folded back.

and the best thing is, they also fold forward! i can hit a tree going forwayd with them, and they fold back, and if i hit a tree going backwards, they fold forward!
