Alright folks, I've been emailing Mick at Suziworld in Australia about the snorkel he has for the Vitara/Grand Vitara and XL-7 and am working on a group buy to get the snorkels at a discount, as well as shipping.
Solo, the snorkel with shipping is about $300.00. I'm hoping I can get five people interested in the deal and have them shipped to me in Arizona, then I would ship them out to you however you want at the actual shipping rate.
I am not looking to make any money on this, just want to get more of a discount on a snorkel.
He hasn't gotten me prices yet, but I wanted to get people thinking about it then when I hear more, I'll post here or PM those that are interested.
Happy New Year,
Jeff

you are probably already aware of this but better safe than sorry i think the snorkels you are interested in buying won't fit with the GV sporting ABS however a a 97 model hilux snorkel will fit if you use flexi hose and route it under the guards to the air box

Well got my snorkel from FTS4x4 on ;D The install was a little unnerving cutting a 3" hole in my zuki but other than that went smoothly.

That looks very nice!
I really like it! ;)
Give us some new info when you use it more....... more/less torgue ect..
-
looks good George. It fits really nicely and you didn't have to move the antenna.
A few other quick questions about your truck: tire size? are the pics with your new springs? how much ground clearance do you have under the front diff and sills? It looks awesome and quite capable.
Thanks for updating us,
Jeff

Those pic's are with the new springs. The tires are 245/75/16 yokohama's

ordered my snorkel, it is on its way from Taiwan. Good find George ...
As a side note, VTTR has been tremendous to deal with - prompt, courteous attention from Margaret and extremely helpful. I highly recommend them as a vendor ...
I'll post pics when I get it installed,
Jeff

Wait till you see how fast you get too. :o My stuff shipped out and 3 days latter I had it. I almost fell over!

No kidding, got it today - Order went through on Monday and got it Wednesday before noon. Absolutely amazing service.
Any tips for the install?
Again, Great find George.

I thought I had posted pics of mine, but I see I haven't. Here goes!

Margaret was also very helpful with us, service was excellent, and things got here really fast! They were sent on a Wednesday, and they got here next tuesday :o My model is slightly different, but I like it anyway ;D It's because packages can't be over 1m here, so they had to give me the shortest possible.

George,
What kind of time did it take to install the snorkel? I'm trying to figure out when to install mine, and just want to get an idea what it took you.
Thanks,
Jeff
-
3 to 4 hours but that was with a run to the store for a 3" hole saw. Just take your time taking the fender off. If its not falling off there's still a bolt holding ::) And don't lay the snorkel on the ground or it will scratch. And remeber you only get to cut the hole once ;)

George, What was the reason to take the fender off? Or did you just take the inner lining off? I can't remember anything back there that seems like it would be in the way ... but, I obviously don't want to screw things up.
thanks,
Jeff
-
Doesn't the air tube go between the inner and outer fender? So it would be easier to line the snorkel up and attach it if you have better access.

You will need to take it off to put the new tube between the snorkel and the airbox. Also you may need to pull the air box out too.
-
Yeh, I got a few minutes and took the liner out and there is quite a bit behind there.

Hey George,
Did you get your snorkel direct from FTS or did you get it through VTTR? I am confused?! ???
If from FTS can PM me the contact info?
Thanks in advance.
-
It's a FTS snorkel I got through VTTR 8)

Snorkel installed! Very easy, for the most part, even though no instructions were included. It looks great and I added some 245/75/16s today. No rubbing with XL-7 rims (this is on a regular 4-door Vitara) whereas the stock rims and 235/70/16 ATs rubbed at full lock. Go figure.
Here's a pic, was hoping to get up on a trail today, but the driveway will have to suffice for now.
-
Looking good 8) I will be hitting the trail this weekend with mine ;D

Thanks George
-
Did you guys have to remove the Grand Vitara badge to install the FTS snorkel in that location?
-
I had to remove my XL-7 one but I can't rember if the GV is in the same spot.
George
-
Well, that sucks.
Last night I found a brand new Safari snorkel for the 97+ Hilux for $275, I think I'm going to give it a shot.
