Samurai Weight
« on: May 25, 2004, 02:49:02 PM »
I have a mover coming tomorrow and he asked me to find out the average weight of an 88 Sami.  Other than stock it has a 1.6 16V, Calmini 3" lift, 8" wheels with 31x10.5x15 and a hardtop.  I was unable to find a scale to weigh it on.

I am looking at putting it in a container with our household goods rather than towing it to Alaska.

If you want to find out the exact weight of yours, try looking around to find a local scrap yard or even a recycling center. They have scales designed for trucks to drive over before and after visiting the yard. Stone quarrys are good bets to find a scale as well as roadside truck weigh stations...
Had a cool sig pic till I changed the text... sigh...

Mine is the same as your's, 16v fiberglass hard top with 31's, with a small box of spare parts and a handfull of tools and 2 gallons of extra fuel it's about 2600 lbs. if you tow it make sure to pull the whole rear drive shaft out,if you need to move it just lock in the hubs and put it in 4wd and unlock them when you are done!
1987,1988,1988,1990 samurai's,  1953 m38a1,  1996 x-90,blue.1996 x-90 red.1994 2 door tracker.   only Dead Fish go with the flow.                No Hairy Nosed Wombats were ran over on the trail today.       My ZUK is Xenophobic.

Thanks for the replies.  I would never have thought about the dump.  It's only about 2 miles away.

Went to the dump as suggested.  They tried to talk me into leaving Rescue Sami with them.  1/3 Tank of gas, tires & wheels etc. weight  = 2,220 lbs.  That was without my posteriour (SP?) in the car.
