Im building my steering on my Sammy SPOA with RUF, I have the mercedes arms and shortend the draglink and tie rod, I have 33's on it and I just bent the draglink , I want to fix this a cheap as possible since Im still collecting parts to finish my yota axle swap. I think I can cut the end of the draglink where its straight and get a thick more heavy duty tubing and weld it together. That seams like the cheapest way, Im not driving it on the street yet just towing it to offroad. OR can I get rod ends like 5/8" and put the tie rod and draglink end in 1 hole? Kinda like stacking with a spacer and one bolt? I think Ive seen this done before but wanted to ask first, Then later when I put in the yotas I can reuse the rod ends and just get new tubes???  What do you guys think? Im trying to make it to the 1st FLOZUKI trail ride in the end of april.

Ok i took a nap and had a dream on what to do. Can I just drill out the hole on the mercedes and to fit a bolt 5/8 or 3/4 what ever seams to be closer to the size, And mount the tierod end  on the bottom of the arm and mount the drag link on the top with a grade 8 bolt through both of the rod ends? This seems to sound better than mounting them both on top. now I have to get some DOM and left and right taps and rod ends. I dont think its gonna be very cheap BUT at least Ill have the stuff when i do my yota swap. Anybody see anything wrong with this setup?

You probably don't want to drill out the ends and put a bolt in.  The bolt should be tapered and drilling it out would ruin that.

If your planning on swapping to Toyota anyway, I would just get some heavy duty tubing that will allow you to sleeve the straight parts of your drag link.  That should be plenty to keep it from bending.

So when you buy the steering kits with the heim joint/rod ends there tapered? I thought they were just regular rod ends bolted through the arms? Or I guess I could buy some new tie rod ends and make a new tube, I guess Im gonna go with sleeving the straight part of the drag link for now I seams to be the most economical.
