Wheel spacers affect tires rubbing?
« on: October 04, 2006, 06:10:23 AM »
I have a 95 Tracker with OME springs and shocks and 1" coil sring spacers.I'm using 1" wheel spacers and my tire size is 235/75/15 with 7" American Racing Wheels. When I have my front wheels turned fully locked the tires rub on the  of the inner fender well.Is this do to the wheel spacers.I would like to run 30/9.5 tires.Would taking off the wheel spacers help my problem.

Most probably, with the wheel spacers the wheel moves in a wider arc.

On stock wheels, if you try to run 31/9.50's without spacers they will rub on the frame.  since you already have aftermarket wheels, they're probably hurting more than they're helping.

Make sure to bang the ridge flat on the inside of your fenders.  That will usually give you a bit more space.  I also ran into rubbing against the bottom of the stock bumper.

Once I lifted my front end up with the spacers that took care of the last of the rubbing issues on the tracker with the 235/75's.  As WorkInProgress said though, the aftermarket wheels probably make the spacers unneccesary.
