new guy! gearing questions
« on: November 06, 2012, 04:51:57 PM »
hey Guys, new to the forum but not new to samurais. havent been able to off road in some years but i am getting back into it. just picked up a tin top for a great deal. its an 87 with SPOA and shackle lift. it has stock gears, axles, and 1.3 with weber carb and headers. its on 33x12.50s. i literally just got it and havent been able to drive it really but i know from past experience it will be a dog with this tire and gear set up. so what do u guys suggest i do for the ultimate CHEAPEST way to solve this. should i do axle gears (what ratio) or t case gearing . or should i ditch these for some skinny 31s ( i want 31" tall min). thanks guys!

also wanted to mention that i do not rock crawl or do hill climbing. i do mainly mud/deep water and trail riding. and i will need to street drive this sammy. no more than 30 miles one way thought. usually 15 or less. whats the best gearing setup for this, and best tire combo? (33 vs 31, wide/skinny)

Have heard that gears in the T-Case are the way to go,when you order just tell them what you plan/tire size, they should know the best ratio.(Pictures of my losers LOL)
