What Brand and type of clutch works well.....
« on: January 14, 2008, 10:45:51 AM »
I'm putting another engine in my Samurai this weekend.... Needing to know what clutch would be best for my samurai. Here is some specs on the samurai (pretty much bolt-ons):

Stock buttom end
Shaved and cleaned up Head
Custom Cam
Weber Carb
Header
29x8.50 TSLs

Everything esle is stock!!!

What style clutch (CF1, Dual Friction, Stock), what brand would be best (Petrowork, centerforce), what do you think I should run with this combo and what do you run? It is a Daily Driver and weekend wheeler.

Thanks for your help.

the dual friction is almost indestructable.  mine has been in for 5 years.  on and off road.
even my wife can't kill it  http://www.puresuzuki.com/CF%20II%20Clutch1.htm

I was think about a Dual Friction clutch but the cost is what got me. Not sure if I need that strong of a clutch for what I do with the sami.

Has anyone heard of or running a Gripforce brand clutch? They look and sound like a good clutch and the price is not bad at all. A stage 1 (heavy duty) clutch is $115 to my door with t.o.b., pilot bearing and tool. Their decription sounds just like a Centerforce CF1. Sounds like a copy.

I've had a PW clutch since 1999 or 2000, whenever they first came out.  Still works flawlessly.

I just ordered the Gripforce Stage 1 HD clutch. Talk with the service guy and he said it's compareable to the CF1 disc/pressure plate. Not to bad of a deal, free shipping and only $96. Nice people too.
