Turn signal issue
« on: March 08, 2007, 05:01:19 PM »
So while i was tinkering around with my car and reading the online manuals for my sidekick, I noticed that my turn signals haven't been working. I'm not talking about the front and rear turnsignals. I'm talking about the ones that are on the left and right side of the car in the front and rear. None of the 4 are working. I checked the fuses, I checked the connections, and none are working. Maybe I checked the wrong fuse box, I checked the one under the dash. I saw the fuse for rear signals, but it was fine. That was the only "signal" fuse I saw.

Could they all have died at once? How do I remove the light to replace it? I checked the AARC online manual and it doesnt say exactly how to remove it. It just says to "pull out the light assembly." I dont want to break anything but just pulling around on it.

are you talking about the ones right beside the headlight or the ones on the 1/4 panel....if you are talking the quarter panel and rear fender they are not indicators they are corner markers for side vision if you are talking the others then double check the fuse, turn on your hazard light and see if they are working then. if not then check the wires and see for any burning is evident. if the hazards do work then check your indicator relay( not sure where it is) and last but not least check the unit on your steering column.  out of curiosity does your dash indicator work?

I'm talking about the signals on the fenders. Not directly in the front of the vehicle or the rear, they're each on the left and right fenders. They look like bicycle reflectors (which is what I thought they were at first, just reflectors.)

I already checked the hazzard lights, and that's how I determined all 4 of the fender signals are broken. But, the direct front turn signals and the ones in the direct rear still work.

And yes, my dash indicator does work, and doesnt show the "check engine" light or any other warning indicator.

Those aren't turn signals, they are marker lights which come on with your park lights and headlights.  They will not flash.  If they aren't lit at all when you turn your lights on then they probably just have bad bulbs in them.

Just pulled one off the parts rig tonight to replace the one I smashed on my trail rig last ride.  You just pull out, probably the narrow end first is best.  There's only a couple of plastic brackets on the back hold it in.

Hmm. Maybe that explains why I've never seen them light up, lol. I'm always driving when they're on. I thought these were turn signals. Now I feel silly.
