Transmission?
« on: September 17, 2008, 07:06:53 AM »
Symptom: I'm stopped at a red light, light turns green, I accelerate, there's a bit of resistance and BOOM feels like I've been bumped from behind, only I haven't, then I'm on my way. Happens about once every other day.
What do you think guys?

Sounds like maybe you broke a tooth off a gear and after floating around every so often it binds up. Maybe Trans or Rearend. Just an idea.

I had a car doing that, a transmission flush fixed it.  It's probably the cheapest fix you can try.

Check your U-joints too. I've had one seize up on my full size pick up with the same result.

That is unless by "boom" you really mean :( BOOM! :(

Then I just don't know!  ???

Check the gear oil in the rear diff. Specifically, look for any metallic sheen to the fluid. Or even worse, look for metal flakes or possibly chunks. Sounds like the rear diff is going south on you. Because of how the Sport ABS system is set up, you can use any Track-Kick rear 5.12 rear diff.

Might pull the rear brake drums and look around, too.
