Missing link....OR DEATH!
« on: November 09, 2006, 08:04:10 AM »
it seems a lot like some supplyers are saying missing link shackels are super DEADLY!.  What do you guys think? i have had a lot of people tell me that there to dangrous to put on a sammie if your goign to be going over like 35 mph.  they said it was even worse on the YJ kit with the OME springs.  It is said to want to roll over quite a bit.
does anyone know some stuff about this, possibly someone whos running them on there sammie. some knowledge would be nice

thanks Millski

Do you mean extended shackles? those are an acquired taste because they alter the castor angle and reduce stability. Some people find them OK but they will exaggerate the effect of any other worn components.
Missing links should stay in the collapsed position on road and as such shouldn't have any effect. There has been a lot of talk about missing links on Difflock.com and the effect on stability on side slopes. You would have to search for D-Flex to find the right posts (UK based site), they have recently changed to a new forum so check the old forum first.

Yeah, what he said!

Missing-Links are awesome when designed and installed properly. The problem is all the poorly designed Missing-Links that give the well engineered ones a bad name. I HIGHLY recommend the Trail Tough M-Links.

I personally only sell the Trail Tough Missing-Links. There are some others on the market that are just plain scairy and look home-made! It's worth the extra few bucks for the better quality Trail Tough M-Links.
