Samurai Build-up BLOG
« on: February 14, 2007, 08:45:58 PM »
I have always wanted to do a full blow by blow blog of a build-up but I always get started and get so involved I forget to take the pictures.

I have commited myself this time and am building a 87 zuk mainly for the mountains and street use but very well equiped to do anything. I wanted to do this without changing the suspension much at all. If anything on the suspension changes it will be a little longer shackle.

It will run lockers front and rear and a 4to1 tcase. 29x8.50x15 Super Swamper TSL tires on stock wheels. Also I am going to do a full clean interior with a radio (a first for me)

Let me know what you think on the blog and I will try to update it each day I work on it. Also give me any ideas you can on things that would make it better.

I have named this build Project Moab or Bust as I am going to run it at Moab on easter this year to prove to my fellow wheeler friends you dont have to have 40" tires to run the trails. When I get home from moab I am going to build my other Zuk to 106" with 40" tires and full width axles..

Here is the link to my Blog.
Thanks
Scott Strong

The seats were off ebay i paid 223.00 shipped.  you can get some that are close to the same right now at checker for 250.00 a pair.

I want this to be a daily driver so the spring over is a no no.  I may however put a ome 1.5" spring set and different shock mounts with longer shocks to get a little more out of the susspension.  Low range off road has a sweet deal on the springs and I would put on a set of sky front shock hoops and spider trax rear upper mount.

As soon as easter is over I start on the other samurai and i want it done by labor day.  I now have the 4.3 chevt and am thinking of propane rather than fuel injection so i dont have to worry about the computer.  a turbo 350 trans and a atlas 6.0 t case 106" wb with 39.5x13.50x17 Irock bias ply tires.
