skid plates....

anyone have dimensions available for a front skid plate for a '95 2dr 5spd 16v geo tracker convertible?  i've made plates for my dirt bike so with the exception of the plates being a bit thicker(i'd like to use some diamond plate if i can get some thick enough for some extra bling bling, lol) i can't see how it could be that much harder.  just wondering if anyone has the measurements though before i go out and break out the tape.... :P

oh and any advice on any other tender parts i should cover would be appreciated...

I would say you could get one from CALMINI for cheaper than you can buy the material. I dont know for sure though.

you could scour junkyards for a stock skidplate.  They're pretty hefty for being a stock piece but, I got mine for 20 bucks.  Look for deals like that.

   I don't think diamond plate would be a good choice if you actually intend to use them for more than just bling bling.  A smoother surface will slide over rocks, etc much easier.

from what i've heard that diamond plate stuff does not slide at all.

Isn't that the point of the diamonds, to provide grip.

lol, yup you guys have a good point.  as usual.  plus i priced some diamond plate and yeah, it ain't cheap.  i do like shiny things though lol  :P

Hello All,

The plate that Sean at Aftermarket 4x4 makes/sells is the best out there unless you have the money to buy a Calmini steering shock with bracket,and the skid plate. The one I have is great!!! I have had both front tires off the ground balanced on a rock with just the skid and 1 rear tire on the ground!!! And it just scrached the paint. It also bolts up to stock threaded holes in the frame,Where a stock plate mounts. I have a fab/welding shop and I would not make them for what he sells them for!!! Here's a few picks....not the best....LOL

Here's mine

I've given mine quite a bashing the past few weeks and it doesn't show anything but some paint scrapes. The customer service is top notch. All my emails were responded to in hours and shipping was very quick. I hope they get some sliders out soon....Maybe at a great price like the skids. Big thumbs up for aftermarket4x4 8)

ok, lets just say i have a friend that works in a machine shop and can make me a front skid plate for real cheap.  where does the stock one mount to and does anyone know the dimensions i should use?
