Stripped splines on front axleshaft
« on: February 10, 2019, 12:17:37 PM »
Hi!

A couple of years ago I decided to install an arb in the front of my suk. Since I live in europe, and have the narrower sj413 axles, I ordered a couple of used samurai axle housings and a set of longfield 33spline axle shafts for the front. And an arb of course. Got everything installed together with a set of 33's, and have been beating it pretty good ever since.
Went out wheeling last week and got myself pretty stuck in the snow, and suddenly: CLANG! No drive on the front left..
Disassembled the front today and found the inner splines(the end thats inside the diff) on the left axleshaft was stripped. Or should I say partially stripped. Seems like only 0,5 to 1 cm of the splines have been properly seated inside the diff. (If thats really the case, its really impressing those few millimetres held on so long..)
Any idea what has happened here? Are my axleshaft to short? Did I do something wrong during the install?

Oh, and the arb is fine, no damage there at all..
