I have read the instruction sheet I got with the transfer case skid plate and still not sure if I have it right



Can anyone answer or have pics of them fitted?



I understand how the Z bracket craddles to the rear round crossmember.



But in the instructions it says to line up the front with threaded bolts holes in the transmission cross member and bolt up?



My transmission cross member does not have any spare bolt holes?



I thought that the front of the transfere skid plate would sit on the transmission cross member lip and when you fit the transmission skid plate it bolts up to the transfer case skid plate then holding both in place pulling down on the lip?

Thats just a FUBAR. On my 95 Tracker there is no Threaded holes either. There is a bracket you can bolt it to if you have a nut.
The rear Z-bar is overlapping the center cross-bar by a hare.

Thanks for that HotRod I looked on your web site and saw your pics of the skid plates helps a little more.
I was under the car last night and was looking for the bloody holes.
Thought I was going to have to drill and tap.

My little bro wussed out and is trying to sell it. Tooo fast for in-town riding. Besides, He already got a ticket on it in the first few days he rode it.

 Glad ya got it figured out. I drew up a pic but couldn't get it posted :-/   I put spacers between the skid plates ant the other bracket as to not squish them together.

HotRod sent you a email with a few pics of the skid plates I tried to loosely fit today.
I think I am on the right track, I just did not realize how bent my cross member was.

It might straighten up a bit if sitting on all 4 just enough to get it together. I'll post your pics.
That cross member is bent really far back. If you do have another one you mighj want to replace it now and then install your skids.

From what I have noticed is if the skidplate catches the bottom of the cross member it'll stop the skidplate from being pushed up if you hit another stump
Anybodyelse like to chime in?
I put steel spacers between the T-case skidplate and the upper bracket in witch the bolts go through to stop the upper bracket being pulled down.

I think I am on the right track, I just did not realize how bent my cross member was.

I trashed a couple of crossmembers before I got my Skid Plates fitted, had to cut them about cos the side metal was bent back over the bolt heads. It looks like you have the same crossmember I have, it catches much easier than the earlier type (the one with the bolt holes) I modded the cross member with an inverted U section with two nuts welded in place. have a look on my site under mods, skids

The skid plates spread the impact across the crossmember and prevent the lip from catching and digging in.
