Engine fan questions
« on: April 10, 2006, 09:38:38 PM »
hello all I bought a 92 jx 5 spd sidekick and the compressor for the a/c was takin off it b4 i bought it so i now have a ac condensor fan as well as a engine clutch fan

I was wondering if I removed the A/C (Radiator?) in front of the actual real radiator and removed the engine clutch fan  would the A/C fan be enough to cool the stock radiator.
i would like to use an electric fan instead of having my engine physically move the fan.

If you guys get what i mean it's a little confusing I know

Thanks alot guys

I would think that the A/C fan is only good enough for a helper fan not a main fan.
My guess tho.
I don't know what  A/C is ;) ;D

hi,

i'm thinking along the same lines but with this mod...  change the ac radiator to an oil cooler.  then remove the engine fan and replace it with an electric one.  both will be thermostat controlled and i would think it would help the engine lots.  any other ideas?  thanks.

i don't have ac in mine  ..i used honda ac fan it seen to work good for me . hooked up to ignition "on " and regular switch so i can turn it off when crossing water ..

HotRod- A/C stand for automatic clutch,so you don't have to manualy turn on your fan clutch ;D

so I guess to be more precise would the helper electric fan be good enough on it's own since my a/c compressor has already been removed and it won't be creating any additional heat just so i can remove my mechanical fan.

and that would be one big a$$ oil cooler i wouldn't want it there in front if my rad if you were going to do that and just so you know you will be putting prolly close to 2 more bottles of oil in your system to use it lol.

thanks guys

My fan clutch went out once so I removed the fan/clutch and unplugged the a/c comp. then turned on the a/c from inside and it worked fine for the rest of the trip. The pusher fan was enough to keep it cool even out here in so cal.

I run my rig just like you want to do. Took out the engine mounted fan and installed an A/C fan in front of the rad on a t-stat switch. I also run an auto tranny and 34" tires which creates extra heat and I have no problem with heating up unless I have to pull a Heep out of the bush ;D
