Show me your cages!!
« on: February 13, 2008, 08:43:08 AM »
Did a quick search and now I have even more questions.
What did everyone do for a roll cage??? Is there a good "kit" out there? Did you tie it into the frame? Can you tie it into the rocker protection and the frame??? Oh my god a guy can go nuts with all these questions. (lol). Any help and pics would be great, Thanks Steve H.  8)

I have the Davesport DOM full cage in mine. Right now it is just bolted to the body but when I get to fiddlin' around with it this summer I plan on tying it into the frame.

Please, on a full body Sami keep the cage on the inside. If your worried about body damage, build a buggy.

Sweet exo cage. I like the look but haven't decided on internal or exo. I need to finish the rear bumper this weekend and then the front but I need to plan the cage just in case I want to tie it all together. Thanks Guys....  8)

I wouldn't think of it as protection from body damage. Just look at all of the attachement points for returning the vehicle to oily side down.

Sorry guy's, I just think if your going to tube your rig, make it look more like a buggy and not a stock rig in a cage.

my two cents

My rig is a little banged up right now, so body damage is not a major issue. I don't want to trash it any  more either. Safety is the most important issue. The interior is small enough as it is and that is why I am looking at an exo. I really enjoy wheeling with no top on the rig so I just want to make sure I get myself home in 1 piece.
Thanks for the input so far and for the help offers. As soon as I finish the bumpers I will start the cage. I will post some pics of the bumpers as they are done as well.  8)

An inside cage takes up hardly ay room. It is located in spots you do not even use.

Not every one finds a "buggy" convenient - driving to trails etc so external cages are a good option. I have afriend who has an exo cage and competes in winch challenges - well long story short , we went over 2x a few months back and it held up 100% and this is on a 2400kg ( 5300lb ) rig. Exos can be built strong, you just need to take a bit more time building them - a good exo presents some design challenges but thats half the fun :)

Over here in NZ we have to drive on the open road between trails frequently so we need road registered and warranted vehicles so an exo looks after the body so we can keep our rigs legal.
