My only problem with this site has been the search function pulling up stuff from 2004 and never showing anything recent.

Helping out newbies by answering questions is what the experienced people are supposed to do in any hobby. I have been flying RC airplanes for several years now, and on the discussion boards for that hobby, newbies are sometimes treated with less respect than they should be. Granted the two topics are very different. There are alot more specific choices to be made in RC.

Most of the newbies on here have questions about tire size, lift and power options, with the occasional gearing option. If you are relying on the search function to answer questions, what's the use in having a discussion board? If you take out everyone's opinions, then the answers are a little simpler. For example, one person thinks all you need is lockers front and rear and 29's, but that will only get you so far without having a full skidplate and body protection. But most times when this is suggested, the newbie is told (between the lines) that all those Sammy's and Kicks he sees in the picture thread with the lifts and big tires are useless, when in fact, sometimes they are necessary for the terrain.

Google will search the boards better. Type in your search string, and add "site:zukiworld.com" at the end. It will do this for all web sites, and it's pretty much all I use. If you use Google's browser (Chrome), you just type in all your searches in the address bar, so that eliminates just one more step.

That said, I love answering questions here. But, I've seen the SAME question asked 4 times on the front forum page. Some of those questions have complex answers (eg lifts, tire types & sizes, lockers etc). I think it's good to have a lot of discussion on these more subjective topics, but who wants to type out the same answers 4 times in a day? When this happens, information gets diluted & some people's patience with "newbs" can get tested.

The answer is the FAQ. It's much easier to point someone to a topic in the FAQ - where all the discussion is in one consolidated thread - instead of spread out between many (mostly redundant) threads.

you are definately right jeremiah. and I truly appreciate your opinions and expertise. i would definately reccommend you for member of the year if we had such a thing. as far as making things easier to search, google search is better, but i would always reccommend reading through ACK's FAQ. i have, and there is definately a lot of good info in there. also, i believe it would be helpful (and has been) to post links to relating topics in the newer topic. this is of course the world wide WEB. if every topic has a link that goes to another related topic, and that one has a related link, and that one has a related link, all we would have to do when searching the board would be to find the ONE topic in FAQ about tire size, and then we will read through and find several related links etc... i hope that makes sense.

"Ok, ready to post. Please remember a few guidelines when posting. Never, I mean always, be courteous and kind when posting."

Easy solution; if the thread bothers you, simply don't reply to it. It is much easier to hit the back button than bash a noob or criticize some one post.

Dood!!!111!!! we should get a bumper sticker made! lol just kidding  about the "Dood!!!111!!!" part, but seriously, my sami would wear a bumper sticker for ACK's FAQ all kinds of good info, neatly organized by simple search terms. looking for something regarding wheels, type in wheels. looking for something about lifts, type lift. type bumper for info on bumpers. ack has seriously made life easier with his website. once again, thank you very much ack. also, when can we see  some bumper stickers? i typed in bumper stickers in your search function, but did not find any. lol

I agree with all of this.  I'm a newbie, but even though I ask questions that have been answered many times in years past, there's always someone who links me to that thread, or answers the question (yet again).  This site has been very helpful even though I ask a lot of questions.
