Gas or lack of!
« on: November 05, 2012, 05:23:56 PM »
My Samurai is stock engine except the Webber,I have eliminated all the possible problems associated with "fuel delivery" except removing the gas tank.My new fuel pump is working great, rear frame filter is fine,I can blow air thru lines that run up the frame.Guess I have to remove the tank???

Are your floats set right on your Weber?

Does the engine run when you dump a little gas down the carb throat?

Yes sir it does attempt to run/idle.I pull the gas line off the carb and I'm not getting great "flow" thru the pump/filters/ lines coming from the tank, that pump should be pumping gas to fill the glass jar,but it aint!

Gonna get me about two feet of gas line, hook it to the tank side of the frame rail filter and run it down into a gas can.If the pump sucks gas from the can and my Samurai runs, then I know its gotta be the tank or short gas line coming from it...right??

You might check the hoses coming from the fuel tank.  A small crack in the line will allow the fuel pump to suck air.  I know someone who replace two fuel pumps before he found the air leak.

Update,"Toxic" ran from the gas can,so I know its somthing with the tank or short lines coming from it.Put a new short line from the frame filter to the hard line coming from the gas tank, somthing like 4" or so of hose, blew air into that line towardes the tank...could hear bubbling, bubbling from the tank, actually blew some gas out the filler!!Hooked everything up,Samurai starts/runs!!New picture...
