Find the rear DS from an XL7.  It's a 2-pc with a pillow block.  2 best parts.  One, it' slide right into the Kick t-case.  Two, the pinion flange end is a true CV (not double carden).  You'll just have to redrill the pinion flange and the CV is 3 bolt.  And shorten it, of course.

Tim, how about strength? In my experience, the CV driveshafts have been weaker than the double cardans and single u-joints.

Here is actually a closeup of the crossmember that you saw in that picture:



The front DS is NOT hitting the crossmemer, and never would in this position. This shot is of the front DS in full droop as well.

However, We WILL be going with an OTT Kicker 3 setup, and will have to re-create crossmembers anyways.  So... this won't stay here.

Well, we need to have EVERYTHING done with a little time to spare before moab, so hopefully, EVERYTHING (locker, tcase setup, sas etc) will be in and ready to go and finished within a month.

It looks good by the way. You gotta take some nice flex shots after its all said and done, so we can drool over them.  ;D



We are going to put leaf in the back with a spring over suspension. This is just to keep it so it matches the front..

We are seeing what we can do to go with a set of 35's.

However... we also are doing everything we can to make sure this baby will still fit in the garage!  :o

So, we will see.

So it doesn't ride different. It would be hard to find coils to match the ride of the leafs.

so your saying all the trucks out there (broncos
to cherokees) with front coils and rear leafs have matching ride quality front to rear?

Well, it's not only that, it's the extra money it will take and the manpower it will require to fab stuff up to keep the coil in the back. It will need a considerable amount of extra height to match the front. It is cheaper, and easier, to just go with a spring over leaf suspension in the back.

Especially with Moab coming up so quick.

Build it big, you can lower it a good 6" by droping to 0 psi rolling it out and airing back up ;) We found that out the hard way. Lifted a Jeep, new rims/tires and it would not clear the garage door :P We dropped the air down to where it's 42's were barely  holding to the rim and backed it out ::)

Well, the XL7 has the highes HP, largest diff and biggest axle of any Zook.  I think it will survive.
