ugh... man I have the chance at a rolling 90's era frame/drive train for $600.  I just cant spend any more money on this rig lol... we are always breaking something new!

 I disagree.....My samurai is built with an RE,l52 coupled to a w-56,stock t-case,toy axles,miller locked 4:56's,118"WB,etc... it wheel's great in the snow,mud,rock's and it's a hell of alot heavier than a original stock samurai.....tires,knowing how to drive in certain snow conditions will get you far into the back country.

I have not wheeled a stock one hard, but mine seems still very light with the mods.  I guess I am used to driving much heavier rigs.

We had a guy in the local club here a few years back try to follow a samurai with 31's locked up and the toy sammie with 35'' Boggers had a real hard time going up the mountain, maybe the Boggers  were just too tough on the side walls to flex even with the bead locks and aired down low, they ended up moving him back with the jeeps behind the other sammies. so yes you can snow wheel just not as easy as others can with smaller tires, I have had one of mine on nine feet of snow with 33's running 1.5 lbs of air and had no problems at all except not having any snow shoes and could not get out of the rig at the top.
