I'd hit up your local Cragslist and see what's there.  There are like 5 complete trackicks in my area alone for $1000 or less.

Take a look on Ebay, I have a strong 8V but I have seen such good deals on remaned 16V it has been temping to do a swap anyway.

If I replace my motor I think I'll go the import route, via maybe ebay. 650-750 bucks plus shipping for a motor that has 40-60k on the clock. I just have to swap my intake.

I would stay away from low mileage Japanese imports as folks over there don't believe in maintenance.
