Will this work ok?

I have searched the forum and haven't found this combination.  I have mounted 31x10.50's on stock tracker rims with four and a quarter inch backspacing.  It leaves me with about a half an inch of clearance from the rear leaf springs.  Is this going to be a problem and should I look for different rims.  Thanks for your input, I appreciate it.  Almost forgot, going on an 87 samurai.

these might work better on samurai rims. the front is where I would expect to see rubbing.

i have a 96 trak. and 30x9.50s and they didn't rub with my trak stocks but they do with the sammy wheels... hope i helped a little

Yes the samurai rims have less backspacing but didn't fare so well in the rollover.  That's when I found a set of tracker rims cheap, I also used to have 235/75/15's on but with the springover I just couldn't resist going to 31's.  While at the tire shop today I found the most common backspacing for the 15x8 is 3.75 inches.  This will give me and extra half inch of clearance to the rear springpack,which would then be about one full inch.  What will this do for my front tire clearances at full turn?

if the tire clears your fine backspacing gives you width and stability, a half inch will gain you one foot on turn radius I have checked my wheels have almost no back space at all but my tires are only 10.5 " wide :)

I'm running an 88 samurai with 2.5 inches of backspacing and 31.1150x15's on 15x8's and they do not rub at all but they do stick out quite a bit.

That is the same backspacing as the rims petroworks sell. I had them on my four door tracker with the calmini 6 inch lift.  But I've been told that if I have that much tire on the outboard side of the mounting flange that it would be hard on the bearings.  Any truth to this?

Sure it will be a little harder, but if you aren't jumping it on a regular basis you should be safe.  :)
